Sternreiter is a mark of true care.

Sternreiter clocks are designed, maintained, and built by craftsmen with over fifty years of experience. The finest case makers and movement builders from around the world combine their talents to produce a line of heirloom timepieces.

In 1935 the Star-Rider logo was synonymous with fine cutlery and flatware. Today Dolf Kamper has resurrected the family-company's logo and placed it as a badge of honor on clocks which he produces with his father Rudi.

Sternreiter clocks are cared for by this family company and most of the clocks are assembled in a small workshop near Cleveland, Ohio.

Ithaca

SW 808 786 04 - 13" x 27" x 5"

An authentic reproduction of an early American office clock, this stately timepiece has a fully functional simple calendar. The lower dial shows the month, day, and date in a large and easy-to-read analog readout. This clock is a favorite of our line and is a must for any household or office.

This piece sounds the Westminster chime every quarter hour on chime rods. It has two hinged brass bezels and the case is made in Germany with a deep, American-cherry finish, or an American country-oak finish (pictured). Both have a medium glossy finish.

The Ithaca is by Sternreiter.

Bauhaus

SW 818 160 03 - 12" x 25" x 6"

This timepiece has a classic design that has been around for generations. The German box clock style was avidly produced since Gustav Becker introduced it in the early part of the Twentieth Century. This piece by Sternreiter is the finest (and to our knowledge the only) example available in America today.

The glass is beveled and leaded in a simple Bauhaus, or Shaker design. The brass trim has an elegant brushed finish. The case is made of thick, solid hardwood boards.

Most importantly, this clock sounds the Westminster melody on long chime rods. These are not the short chime rods found on most spring-wound clocks in this price range, instead this piece has a deep and rich sound similar to that of a floor-standing grandfather clock.

Castle Clock

WW 801 677 00 - 6" x 9" x 4"

In 1640 the "Waaguhr" was the first mechanical clock that was affordable by the new middle class in Europe. Its simple design allowed for only one hand indicating the hours. The average person of the Seventeenth Century measured time with only three times of day:sunrise, high noon, and sunset.

This mechanism is a more modern and accurate version of the style of clock which was available in 1640. It includes a pendulum escapement (developed in 1659) and a solid brass mechanism. There are two hands (one for hours and one for minutes) and it runs eight days on a single winding
